Here I go again.
Call me half cocked, call me foolish, but I need the convenience of digital imaging for a lot of this web stuff. Why shoot film for a medium that does not need high resolution when digital will work just fine
& be so convenient and fast!
I needed some quick images for the web site, so I borrow a good digital camera back, test it out, and wow, what convenience.
I made some images, they are here on the site. This device works fine, especially for this low resolution medium. By the way, I did not borrow a cheap, or for that matter, low quality digital system, only a free one!
Now before I get into my point (rant), you are about to say, he's a "retroPhoto" type guy, and is probably computer illiterate. Oh contrary, this site isn't on the web because I prayed for it to be
here.
Well, fire up my computer, set up my lights and begin my simple shoot. Something is wrong, it was working fine yesterday, reboot, all will be fine. Damn scuzzy chain, my fault. Still no device, reboot again, OOPS,
still no device. Well, I'll just delete the drivers, reload, then reboot, no problem!.
OOPS, still no device, but it was just working??? (Yesterday)
Well, remove the digital "problem", insert the old Polaroid instant back, make the image, dry the film, scan and place in page.
Moral of this "rant", it's expensive (relative), it's slow (relative), it's low-tech (opinion), it requires close attention, BUT IT WORKS!!!
I will always be amazed at how consistently the good "old" silver halide processes always "works". For an old (150 yrs) industry, a lot of beautiful "low-tech" images are still being easily
produced and shared around the globe!
