There are many Photo Reference books available.  Here  are a few that I enjoy to surf through when I have nothing else to do.

PhotoLab IndexThis has a lot of formulas & good info  from the manufacturers. These are not easy to find & maybe overkill.  My copy is from my birth year.

Bantam

We all know who Ansel Adams is.  This is his five book essay on Photography as Adams sees it. Without a doubt, one of the best sources on the Zone System, Ansel's very controlled process of "pre visualizing the relationship between the light of a scene, 7 the necessary chemical control needed to translate the light to silver halide.  Good books, though very technical.

Baby Rollei

I am sure that this book is still in print with all the love still there by traditional photographers & the Leica cameras .  All you ever wanted to know about these fine photographic machines.

A light, almost humorous publication from 1976 (my copy).  The whole earth catalogue of photography. We are a long way from this publication today, although much of photography is timeless. By the way, I threw all of my bell bottoms away.

Publisher: Harper & Row..

The 1940's, a series of photo essays about everything in photography. Great for boring New England winter nights. Nine volumes!
